Iraq's oil production up to 6 million barrels a day next year

BAGHDAD / Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Hussein
al-Shahristani said Iraq's production of crude oil will reach 6 million
barrels a day next year.
Shahristani said in his speech in the
celebration of launching the national strategy of energy: "The oil
ministry began during 2007 and 2008, the implementation of a
comprehensive plan by focusing on the development of oil fields., And
then the Iraqi government decided to invite international companies to
participate in the various four licensing rounds, which resulted in the
signing of contracts to develop 12 patch oil and 3 gas and there is a
fifth round at the end of the year. "
He added: "Iraq, in such a
plan, has made a remarkable success in the development of the fields
and increase production. But we must develop plans to extend the
pipeline and the construction of new ports to transport oil and gas."
In
the field of electricity, Shahristani said: "Iraq has signed contracts
to build new plants with capacity of 15 thousand MW, in addition to the
current product, as well as signed contracts to modernize the
transportation networks that require large investments."
